Ok, history: this is a kid who ‘brushes’ his teeth by squirting some toothpaste around the sink so when I walk in, I can ‘smell’ it and believe he did the job. all he does is make faces to himself in the mirror. So showers, now it’s either we stand and watch him which is ridiculous, he’s 9, or we scream “GET BACK INTO THAT SHOWER THIS MINUTE”. No win situation.

Today, he came out of the shower with possibly some water dripping from his payos, I repeat, possibly. Ketchup on his face. Black toenails.

I said very calmly, young man, you will go back into the shower and come out clean. If you come out clean, you will have clean clothes tomorrow. If you come out dirty, you will wear today’s dirty clothes until Shabbos. He sobbed his brains out, tried the martyr thing, the pity plea. I kept my cool. He’s smacking clean yummy smelly delicious, in bed! Hurray.

Good for you. By my count this is the second "outsmarting" you have done with you your children in as many weeks. This is great parenting/psychology!

Great prenatal taking, if you don’t mind. I’m so proud of my mental capacity with a 6 week old! My first home run ever. Thank you Shaklee.

ah the smell of clean dirt ... Twisted Evil what do these guys think ... glad you convinced him - I guess he likes clean clothing or was her merely mortified by his friends noticing dirty clothes ... either way good for you & sonny boy Cheers

I would fill a bath and force him to get in and soap himself up!

shakelee -- I think our sons would get along well... only thing is my son couldn't care less if I made him wear dirty clothing. -He'd rather not have to change and he loves dirt.

A friend of mine once told me the following: her child (young--not a smelly teenager) refused to shower once when he particularly needed to. So, she told him, okay, but you are not allowed to shower for two full weeks. Needless to say, by the end of the two weeks he wanted that shower sooooo badly. After that, he was "cured" for life...
