I suggest all of you with little girlies in town (seems to be a trend by us recently) to get the hang of it. This dd has a short hairstyle and every time I blink it needs to be cut! Not wishing to run out in this weather with a newborn and snitching for money from the ever-disappearing envelope… I trimmed her hair… myself… you got it – at the kitchen table.

Nice job. I’m so proud of myself.

Yeah, when the girls are still young you could get away with it, but I wouldn't dare try to touch a teenagers hair!

How did it come out? Is she happy with it?

It feels so great to save money, don't it?

My dd is 10 and she went to the beauty parlor only once because she didn't let me cut it and that was the only way she was going to get a haircut, then.

I did a full inch and she's staring at herself in the mirror since. I am only terrified that now she knows what to do with scissors... and may try a haircut on herself.

good for you! I too am the barber/hairdresser in the house. It is a great way to save some $$. ds and dh get buzzed with the hair clippers (it's just faster) - and dd get a proper hair cut. We invested in a good pair of hair cutting scissors and a barber's ssmock so the hair falls right off them.

Enjoy!

Your baby is just two weeks old and she already needed a haircut? Relax, give her time.

it really depends on how you view it ... if teenagers grow up with mom cutting their hair - then they don't mind ... just ask my kids ... but then again we can do the art of hair cutting ... a family thayng

Yuck! I remember sitting on the kitchen counter, fighting with my mother to cut my bangs (which I hated) to at least touch my eyebrows. I never won! I vow never to cut bangs for my girls!
