Point a hair dryer at the candlesticks, wipe off liquid wax with napkin or soft cloth.
You'll see that a lot of the tarnish comes off too!
Some people like to pour boiling water over the items.

Wait a second- I can blowdry off the tarnish? For real?? That would save me so much trouble !

Not all of it...
A trick to remove a lot of tarnish no sweat is:
-Put candlesticks etc into aluminum pan
-Sprinkle with baking soda (or water softener- possibly even better)
-Pour on boiling water
A lot of the tarnish will just disappear, most of the rest can then be easily wiped off with a cloth.

Thanx for the tip Hisorerus! Just today I was pushing off polishing the silver cuz I just hate doing it. But I think I'll try this.

Oh boy! Is it really that simple? I hate to polish, both the scrubbing and the smell. I got to do the menorah this week... guess what I'm trying?
