Posters that do not live in Lakewood- I don't think you understand how low tuition is here especially subsidized tuition compared to other places.

For elementary school girls you're talking about somewhere between 6800 & 8000 FULL. There are definitely a few exceptions but this is the average. That means that there are people who are paying $5,000 per kid Which is less than they would pay to send their kid to a babysitter for less time of the day.

For boys it's probably between $6,800 and 10, again that's full, many people get breaks without question.

My daughter’s elementary school in Lakewood is $11,500 full. I’m not aware of any school charging $6800 full. $8000, yes.

I'm guessing that the heimish schools are more. Yeshivish schools are around that price (6000 to 8000).

Some of the smaller older schools are cheaper. The ones building new buildings are more expensive.

I think they in part cost more because they don’t have income from their building. But my girls school doesn’t have a building and hasn’t started building one to my knowledge. (nachlas)

I’m asking again, why are the higher ups getting paid when the teachers are not. I understand their job is difficult, and they need to be paid to keep the school running, but it seems so backwards that the schools can’t pay their teachers and the administrators are driving new cars

Yes, they need day camp and camp however, they don't need $2,000 daycamp and they don't need $3500 ( a half) camp. Camps and day camps need to find a way to cut their costs in half so people have more money for tuition.
If so many people are behind on their tuition how in the world is every child going to expensive camps? Do parents save their money to pay the camp tuition while ignoring school tuition?

There is a separate building fee as well as multiple giant fundraisers for the building , and we were told our tuition is simply cost or educating our child not putting away money for a future building

100% I agree it's unaffordable. I just don't get why tuition is so often the bottom of the list.
People complain in Lakewood that it's so hard to get into a school and why don't people want to open schools. This is the reason. Specifically in this town, people expect to pay a fraction of the cost to educate their kids. Full tuition usually doesn't even cover the actual cost of education.

I spent many years with very little money and no help and no programs. We scrimped on food, on vacation, but we paid tuition. It probably helps that I don't have 12 kids. Or half that.
Rabbanim keep saying not to base the amount of kids you have on the amount of money that you need for them, but then where does that leave the schools?

It's a big issue.

That's a myth put forth by the school to justify their actions. Yes, there are a few who do that. But the majority doesn't. They are struggling for the basic survival needs.

The expectation to send all children to private school is insane but it's there. Most people are struggling and tuition is a massive problem. The schools need to work something out because I'd like to know where the money goes. Why do other religious schools manage better and for less tuition? Why do many frum schools have so many administrators?
