Sorry to bump an old thread, I'm just wondering if OP could update if you ever spoke to a rav about it. I'm looking to name for someone who I need to add a name for and she was both strong and kind so I'd actually love to know more about this aspect. Or if anyone else knows. My little girl is rivka and she's the softest, yummiest delightful girl! Named for my grandmother who was an amazing woman. So many ppls favorite person. Positive, ayin tova, always happy despite all she went through, supportive and loving. And loveable. ♥

Why don't we start at where the name is actually coming from? Rivka Imeinu was chosen as Yitzchok's bride because she was a baales chesed and had a good heart. Doesn't seem obnoxious to me at all.

I taught a class one year where the most respectful, soft-spoken, aidel, sweet, conscientious girl was a Rivkah. The happiest smiliest friendliest nicest girl in dd's class is Rivky.
Ppl love saying random stuff about names. Don't believe everything you hear.
