I had a scheduled UPS pickup for an Amazon return. They came Friday about half hour after shabbos started. I asked the driver if he can come back on Monday. He either didn’t show up or I somehow missed him (though I was home all day, so hard to believe). In any case, I just called ups because as far as I’m concerned no one came. I
UPS claims they attempted delivery on Monday and then box was picked up Tuesday and already arrived to Amazon facility.

But I never sent the box! I don’t even have the label yet, as UPS was supposed to provide it.

So that’s one story with a package…
The second one is that USPS picked up a package on Tuesday, and there’s still no tracking info listed, only the date I created the label.
I know the mail has been very wonky- but to not even be scanned yet 2 days after pickup?

They would not be able to. Their tracking system would not allow it to be scanned.

Sometimes it takes a while for tracking to show up. During busy holiday season two days is not a long time

Yess! I dropped off my USPS package and it still says label created

Omg. This is insane! But was just on the phone with ups again, it seems like they slapped the ups label on the usps label and shipped it off to amazon!
And here I thought I had 2 weird package stories…

But this is not funny, it was a $160 item Can't Believe It

. Going to call amazon now to see if they can ship it back to me.

The weird thing is that on Tuesday I was at a neighbors house when a car pulled up and a person wearing a UPS vest dropped off a package. Meanwhile, I had prepared the USPS package with a note on my door.
A little while later my husband said, so weird, USPS picked up the package but not with the regular mail truck- just a car. It did cross my mind that it’s strange that both UPS and USPS are suddenly in cars vs trucks. But only put the 2 together now after foxglove brought it up…

These kinds of things happen this time of year. The holidays mean lots more packages shipping. It also means people are in lala land more and more the closer it gets to xmas and more mistakes happen.

I’ve also been getting usps and ups packages delivered in regular cars, looks like the companies are paying people to do deliveries with their own cars

Wait wait! Dh dropped off a box at ups for Amazon return. THEY printed the label. 2 days later, the item is at my door. Instead of printing a label going back to Amazon the address was OUR ADDRESS.....
The app showed that we are already refunded and that the return is in transit. Tralallala.
This is a bit 🤪

There was a guy wearing ups vest and lugging a metal cart walking up and down my street with no car. He took my neighbors package, put it in his cart, went back to the house, and put it back. Then he walked away.

Weirdly the UPS labels so both UPS and USPS. It makes sense that a moonlighting inexperienced driver would make that mistake.

My USPS package is still arriving Tuesday Dec 10. It’s currently in Indiana.

USPS is majorly delayed the last few weeks.
It's normal for an item to be scanned or label prepared and no tracking for a week.
I started taking my packages to the usps location and getting printed receipts with tracking since it's so unreliable to leave it with a driver or even an the return drop off.
It takes time but at least I have proof that USPS accepted it .
