Want to go out to eat with DH to a nice quiet upscale place without breaking the bank. Possible to pull off? Did you ever go out to eat and were surprised how low the bill was after?
Would go anywhere half hour drive from brooklyn - also rather prefer meat.

Meat will be expensive anywhere.
We recently enjoyed Bass & Bourbon.

I don't think anyone recently has been surprised by how low any bill is. If you want upscale it's going to cost.

Ideally not more than $100 - and we're not very big eaters.... we would skip the mains and just order 2 or 3 appetizers type...

Sushi team in Flatbush is nice and quiet and so so so cheap. They also serve you there, and that contributes to the vibe.
And their sushi is simply epic

anju in five towns is reasonably priced and I like the food. Not sure how much it will cost you tho. I don't look at the bill when I go but I know its cheaper than doma

Very hard to spend under $100 between both of you for meat places. Prices went up like crazy. 20% mandatory tip added to your bill plus taxes… forget it

1. "up$cale" means expen$ive, period. Don't fool yourself and imagine you can get upscale for a moderate price.
2. Expensive, moderate, affordable and reasonable are all relative terms and therefore useless unless you know who's talking. Far more meaningful and helpful would be to post price ranges, or, even better, links to current menus, so OP can decide for herself which term to apply.
