I have always gotten it in the mail and returned it. However, I'm willing to believe people who say they didn't. Both DOE and USPS aren't known for perfect records of reliability and efficiency. Also, if the paper is that important, then there should be some redundancy - send it by mail and email, send a second notice/reminder... That way if one gets lost or misunderstood, you still have a chance. In my experience the letter didn't come very long before June 1st - I think sometime in May? Don't remember. And I never got any reminders. If they actually cared half a darn about actual children, they would do better.

We’re seeing from the DOE that this is not about the children.
If it really was the changes would have been very different. Most providers are servicing their students. The agencies were the ones who needed accountability. Not the providers or students.

Agudah sent out an email today or yesterday. I didn't fully understand it all but anyone trying to follow the situation should get in touch with them.

I have 2 children receiving services.
One through agency another not.
I have ALWAYS received the June 1 letter in the mail in the past. This year I did not. For either one.
I only knew to send it in because the agency sent it out and reminded parents to send it in.
The BOE definitely played some shtick and now the kids are paying for it.
When I had my new IESP meetings, by 1 they didn't say anything but by the 2nd, with different people, at the end the person running the meeting said don't forget to send it in anytime after Jan 1 until June 1.
It can be found on BOE website.
So I put a reminder in my calendar for January. That way it's done and I'm covered

You got it for 2024?
If yes, you're the first person I hear to have gotten it. And I discussed it with school principal as well. I wonder if distract matters.
But you're right. They do everything through email now but the one important notice still goes by mail.

The situation is really upsetting! We pay tons of money in taxes to the public school system and the DOE tries to do everything they can to refrain from giving our kids services that they rightfully deserve! Why is there not a greater outcry about this?

I did not get the letter of intent in 2024. I thought it was really strange as I usually got it by mail.
In may I emailed the DOE and someone actually responded (!) with an online link to fill it out.

I'm a therapist and I have a student whose mom filled out the letter of intent. I started working with her in Sept and in oct the DOE claimed they never got it and I need to stop servicing. I submitted proof that the mom completed the letter and they're just ignoring me. So now this kid can't get therapy
The DOE is really playing games this year

And the while letter of.intent is so stupid in the first place and not necessary
