What do you do to stay awake? The phone is pretty effective. Eating too.

So tired so could use any tips to stay awake. I do sleep during day already.

I got a supportive chair so I won't get a stiff neck when I inevitably doze off.

In the day I would talk or sing to my baby.
At night I nursed in bed and was fine with falling asleep.

I’m a very deep sleeper and fall asleep quickly especially with a nursing baby… I set myself alarms every few minutes…

Falling asleep in a chair holding your baby isn't safe. Better to cosleep with the safe sleep 7.

Correct. I cosleep because of this. Much safer IMHO.

Really? I guess different personalities and different sleep habits.

I'm currently up to baby number three sleeping in my bed..not once have I rolled over them BH! I never understood when the online articles warned about this.

I guess it does sometimes happen.

BH your husband was there and nothing happened.

*** Since time cannot be conveyed via text, I am not saying this in a judgmental tone at all

And I dropped my newborn baby (less than a week old) while nursing sitting up because I fell asleep. Nothing is 100% safe. I can never sleep deeply for the first few months. I'm very anxious and wake up from every cry and movement.

I sleep. Cosleep safely. It's just about impossible to roll in the cuddle curl position.

You're not just fighting tiredness, you're fighting the nursing hormones which are meant to put both of you to sleep.

I scroll on my phone and that keeps me up. Shabbos is tougher. I get out of bed to nurse in a chair since I don't fall asleep there. Nursing in bed makes me fall asleep and so does the couch. My husband knows to check on me too if it's been a while. I'm too scared to cosleep because I'm a heavy sleeper. No judgement to those who do it safely, but it won't work for me.

I turn on the light and sit up
I feel bad for my husband but it's essential for me.

During the week I play a mindless game like Tetris or rummy on my phone so it keeps me up

Shabbos is very hard. I tried switching to a chair but it doesn’t help

I found that in shabbos I feed baby right before I go to sleep, even in his sleep so I know that when I fall asleep I ll get a decent chunk of sleep (3-4 hours) so when I wake up I’m not so exhausted

Do you sleep with pillows/blanket?
Co sleeping terrifies me. I don't understand how people will yell when you say you put your baby to sleep on their stomach but co sleeping is ok.

I nurse side-lying in bed from day 1. Usually we both fall asleep.

There is actually research showing that co-sleeping is safer then tummy sleeping.

Personally, I'm a very light sleeper, and I am not worried about co-sleeping. A deep sleeper or a thrasher/mover would make me worried.

Wanted to add that safest is sleeping on the back in parents room

I used to fall asleep nursing with my oldest, but she would continue sucking so I'd generally end up getting engorged. With my other kids, b"h, their suck is stronger so I can't really fall into a real sleep while nursing, if anything it is just a doze. Otherwise, not sure what I'd do! My bed is not against a wall and no chair in my bedroom (or space for one either!)

I am crazy about this stuff when cosleeping. I sleep with one pillow and nothing extra in bed. I have a blanket/sheet only after my waist or I try to not use any at all. I don't sleep great but hey that's the newborn stage anyway.
