I came from a home where we lit the same as shabbat, my hubbies family lights only 2 on Yom Tov. I also never heard of it before I met him.

I voted other because there was no option for "both". I only light 2 candles whether it's shabbos or y"t.

I thought your poll would be when do you light the candles on Yom Tov? Like Shabbos before the shkiah or when the men come home from Shul or somewhere in between?

I have never heard this, but I have a theory: we are only required to light 2 on shabbos, but the more you add is good because you fulfill oneg Shabbos with lit candles. Since there is no inyan of oneg on Yom Tov (rather simcha) some may see no point in going beyond the 2 candles required for the mitzvah of hadlakas neros.
Can anyone confirm?
