If you have only so few dollars per person, serve them breakfast or lunch in the office

I'm intentionally vague.
I'm sorry about that.
I hope it is ok to ask for links that I need without spilling my whole life story or defending my need.
If it is not ok to do this then I will take down that thread. |
I believe a thread asking for links is fine. This thread may be the more problematic one. You are asking for our thoughts on cheap gifts, but you are stringing us along. We voiced our opinions, stating that most of us wouldn't appreciate it or may be insulted if it's given by an employer. But you keep on countering that you are sure that this is not the case, without providing any details for it.
So what was the point of this thread?

Agreed. A $2 gift card to a local coffee shop doesn't even get me a coffee.

The only time a gift that cheap is appropriate would be a holiday season white elephant and even then, the price point is usually up to 10 dollars. |
This.

So now as an adult you rake in so much gift cards are totally unnecessary?

Why? Who wouldn't want an extra $2 off an order?

Because you were all hijacking her thread. So she gave you a place to discuss. But she also doesn’t care what anyone thinks.

OP, if you give out things for your clients then go with something universally practical like notepad etc.

I edited my OP to explain what the point of this thread was.
I am sorry if I said I will appreciate the feedback and then I'm not ready to share more details.
Being that people on the first thread had feedback without me asking for it I figured it is in place to give people a platform to share their opinions without disrupting my thread.
I hope this is clear now.

Obviously no one would mind it, but it's not a gift. I'm not going to buy something now that I wasn't going to get before. It seems very random to me and now I need to say a gracious thank you for my $2 off my toiletries?

She doesnt care? Yes she does. She asked our opinion as fellow adult women as to what we would appreciate in that price range and we answered, actually we wouldn’t appreciate them and are answering her question

Got it now, thanks. But now you have got me really curious in what context adult women employees would enjoy such gifts.

I wouldn't be too thrilled with a $2.00 gift. In fact, for Administrative Professionals Day, my former supervisor got everyone something from the dollar store. I didn't feel particularly celebrated that year. In fact, I would have been happier with a $5.00 ift card to the dollar store so I could choose my own prezzzie.

She asked for links not opinions.

It sounds like these are more like little prizes than meaningful gifts. If I won a $2 gift card I'd much prefer it to a random tchachka.

You asked for links but this thread is asking for opinions. Then you say you don’t want opinions. I think the fact that people on both threads tell you that they don’t want junk should signify something.
If you want to benefit from the community, you should listen to the community opinion even if you don’t like it

Im a Morah. I have parents who will randomly give me something small over the year. I prefer the Danish/pastry/coffee/chocolate type rather than the $3 dollar store thing.
Unless I know someone well and know what they would appreciate, the $3 thing is hit or miss. My husband, mother, sister, close friend I would know if they would appreciate that mug/paperweight/keychain or will just toss it.
If I don't know the person we'll enough, I prefer to stick with edible gifts that tend to be more universally appreciated.
