Help. The couch is next to huge windows. The kids climb on the windowsill behind the couch and ripped my shades. This isn’t a parenting q…I know, I need ti get them off the couch. But what window shades are the most durable and kid proof? I want something light filtering. Thanks

Pull blinds up. If your ok with the jumping on couch have rule the blinds must be up before jump. Explain reasoning to the jumpers in advance

OP, like you I have some very active kids who also don't really listen so well. We had a similar set up with a big window with a deep window sill right behind the couch, and they were constantly climbing up and being the shades. At a certain point I decided I could spend their whole childhood telling them to stop doing things/ getting annoyed when they break things or I could adapt the environment to better suit their nature (ie make it less likely for things to break and get damaged). I have found curtains to be the sturdiest option. It's not necessarily the look I would go for if I could choose anything I wanted and certainly not the most up to date look. But it works for my family and that's what matters most.
