Not shticky or cool, but nice solid boys form solid homes. It's not a weak yeshiva. Solid strong learners.
My son went for a faher and there were boys from Florida, Baltimore that week.

My friends son from Chicago went. Very strong learner. They are laid back people. Not fancy.

Agreed, we say it’s an in town place but you’d think it was OOT.
They have well rounded boys, it’s ok to play basketball Friday afternoon as an example. We’ve had interactions with Rav Reuven and I find him to be extremely down to earth and not into unnecessary chumrahs.

For the right type of boy, it's an excellent place. My son is there. He's a very self-motivated, mature boy, with a great sense of humor, but a low-key personality.

I don't know what the Yeshiva is like today but my husband deeply regrets having gone there (in the 90s). It's true that they aren't into chumras or have issue with playing basketball but they take (took?) a very hardline, fire and brimstone approach towards Yiddishkeit in general. For some boys that may be good. For my husband who went there because he was looking for a Yeshiva with serious learning it was damaging.

My brother learned/learns there and stayed when he got married and is raising a family there. Down to earth, nice, normal people, good solid learners, no drama and no shtick, but also do believe in having outlets (playing ball, etc.). But it’s for good solid smart learners who are serious about learning, no strings attached

At Yeshiva of Staten Island today how solid is the English education? Is it quality enough for further professional fields? Anyone have any specifics? How would that compare to Toras Emes secular for example? Or Toras Vaadath?

They do Regents and the boys are expected to perform decently (maintain a B average).
This is from my 2 nephews who are/were there.

The boys are well equipped to PCS and Agudah Masters Programs and get computer, accounting, business degrees and jobs.
