I work in a private gan. There have been many staffing issues (as in not enough staff for the amount of kids in this gan)
From day to day and week to week, we dont know who is work in the gan and it is so stressful.
Its been going on for a long time and its so stressful working there.
From last year this has been happening on and off. And some staff have left and not enough replacing that staff. Another staff has bit the dust now. And I just dont know how much longer I can actually take it. When there is not enough staff, the amount of children that is put on me is too many and I literally can not seal with it. And I have gotten sick and physical ailments from the stress of this all.
(This is really just a vent. Not much that I can do. But its so annoying and very upsetting)

I worked in a gan and mishpachton for over 3 years.
The amount of physical and mental stress it does to you is completely underestimated
When your body feels worn down, it’s telling you to stop. It’s a warning sign before things get worse.
Op, please consider switching careers for good. There are many fields you could go into. Many with some training and some without. At least get a less draining job for example clothing store etc.
it’s scary to take the step but many years past that phase it was totally worth it (for me). I totally relate where you are at.
Some people have it in them to be part of a gan and that’s great! But some really don’t and that’s ok too.

The physical aspect of the work I actually enjoy. But the not knowing if there will be enough staff each day has been so stressful. The thing is, if I leave now, I would be the same as the other women who just upped and left because they couldnt take it with the terrible staffing situation. Its a bad circle we are in.

My OB told me that over half the women she puts on bedrest are ganenot. The physical and mental strain of the job is more than you realise.

Most of the women I work with are actually after child bearing age, including myself, but that is a very sad fact you wrote.
I always felt the physical strain but was ok with it. Thats what shabbos is for, to rest. But the mental strain has just started to begin for me, after a few years working this job. Its actually crazy.

Why do you have to stay? Because you need the money or because you feel bad abandoning this dysfunctional workplace?

Both.
So many staff members have come and gone during my few years working here. Id feel awful to leave in the middle of the year.
And we desperately need y salary.

Step 1: Speak to them frankly about what’s bothering you. If they don’t seem to care, move on to step 2
Step 2: Look for a new job without leaving your current workplace
Step 3: Work on people-pleasing tendencies and fear of letting people down
Step 4: Find a new job and give ample notice and leave
