The last time that this happened was some 14 years ago. I remember some trees died because the branches couldn't bare the weight of the snow on the leaves.

Right now there are still leaves on my trees but the snow doesn't sound so heavy so hopefully my trees stay alive.

Does it indicate that there's a heavy winter season ahead?

I remember it snowing heavily end of October maybe 2011 or 2012. After hurricane irene. There were lots of trees down since most of them still had leaves and couldn’t handle the snow. Streets were a mess and lots of power outages.

Yes! It was in October. And some areas didn't have their electricity restored for more than 2 weeks.

School was out for a long time

But the snow was BEAUTIFUL!!!

Wow! How does everyone remember exactly when it happened? I only remember because we had a family simcha that shabbos.
Anyway, it’s been so warm here this year that it’s really funny that the first day it’s (finally!) cold and wet people are already complaining. We’ve been really spoiled this winter so far. Let’s see what happens…

Well, it's snowing in Switzerland too.
Even though it's early in the Winter, for that much snow to fall...

I remember where I lived the time, and I only lived there for 2 years 😜.
I also remember it being called ‘The October Snowstorm’.

Awww I wish we got some snow near me, it's been unusually mild over here.

I'm originally from a really snowy area in the Midwest, so I can't wait for a gezunta snowstorm!

Bring it on 🌨️🌨️❄️❄️⛄⛄

When you’re 12 and you get to make snow mountains instead of going to school, you remember ☺️

I’m really ready for some big snowstorms and cozy snow days this winter. My younger kids don’t have any memories of real snow.

We lost power for a week. It was horrible. Not something I'm going to forget easily. It was the year before hurricane Irene. So it was 2 years in a row. We lost power for over a week. So not normal.
