He did not ask for more money. He called to say that the account was locked down because of my payment.

But maybe he was hoping I would just offer to pay him again? I really don't know.

This is how scams work. They come up with some sob story and get you to give them bank info and drain your account. You can’t be naive in this world. Naive people lose money by being nice to scammers sob stories. You sound like the type that won’t see it coming. You need to learn more about how to spot scams.

“I am so sorry about that but I didn’t put in any claim against it.. I called my bank twice and they have confirmed that and the money is still debited from my account. I am unable to come down in person tomorrow but if there any other proof I can provide please let me know”

I had my account locked from a payment, I called they unlocked it and cleared the payment. They never say the person who sent money has to take action. It’s just not how it works.

Who is giving bank info???
Asking wells fago to talk to chase to confirm a transaction number while you are on the phone…
I think going down in person is way more dangerous if this is a scam. But I still think it’s a bank error and the person is trying to get to the bottom of it. What would you do if your account was shut down?

Explain what you think is going on? If his account is locked he needs to talk to his bank. The fact he’s pretending it’s her issue means his account is not locked and he never spoke to a bank.

And you know it’s Wells Fargo? And not his friend saying hi I’m Wells Fargo? Banks don’t talk to each other on the phone. It’s just not how it works. They don’t hand info out like this. Reason being because it’s always a scam. You talk to your own bank if there is an issue. They don’t need the person who sent the money to do anything at all. You are a prime target for a scam.

Because the bank is saying transaction xxxx triggered the lockdown.
Again it’s not the ops responsibility especially after calling her bank twice.
Zelle payments are labeled with a name so it’s not like they are giving out a name.

You insist it’s not a scam. So what do you think this guy is doing? Because his bank did not say go tell the lady who sent it to unlock your account because the only one who can control his locked account is his own bank.

And you aren’t understanding the conversations.
No one is giving out any info. Just confirming a transaction. So if it’s a scam he gets nothing (but wasting her time) by getting on the phone….

Literally all over my zelle account it says never do things like this.. banks always warn never do this.. you aren’t understanding this common scam. Banks have way of confirming whatever they want. They don’t use conferences and have people on calls to do it. I really hope you get educated on scams because you just don’t get it at all.

I am not insisting it’s. It a scam. I am saying I don’t see anything yet that screams scam. I see someone who got locked out of their account that doesn’t know how to to deal with the banking system.
I am not telling anyone to send anyone money..
Another thing that might have caused this lockdown is the person using the person account for business (not sure if this would case it.. but maybe)
Again not ops fault

Ok. So no conference call. But I still don’t see the scam yet till he asks for more money or info.

The only thing she should say is call your bank this is not my issue. Your advice is dangerous. While on the phone with banks they absolutely can give info away. Please don’t give anyone advice if you don’t understand scams.

I don't get why everyone is jumping to say it's a scam. Nothing that I read sounds like a scam. Sounds like his bank account got locked and he is trying to resolve. Sounds like lots of people in the neighborhood use him and no one was scammed. I don't think it will be worth it for him to scam her and lose all his clients in that neighborhood. I don't think it's a scam.

To clarify.
He told me that his bank is Wells Fargo. He also gave me the case number, so that when I speak to my bank I can give them the case number. But my bank was not interested in the case number. They said it has nothing to do with them.

I hear what everyone is saying, but, other than hoping I will just pay him again, what was he hoping to gain? If his account is locked, it wouldn't even help if I paid him again because it's locked!
Meaning, once he saw that I wasn't jumping in to send him more money, why would he keep talking about the locked account?
