I bought one in Williamsburg last year for $25. It was cheap because it was an old style. I only wear it once a year, so it's okay for me.

Also hot glue is great in place of a sewn hem.

No, it probably wasn't real silk. Are you planning to wear it every week?

I've glued the edges of fabric to finish it and it got hard. I don't think hot glue would be good for silk, either.

what's the difference - she's wearing it only for a bit ... sure I'd rather sew it - but not everybody sews so I gave an alternative solution ...

I know you gave her an alternate solution, even though she's not buying fabric anyway LOL , but a better alternate would be to have someone finish it up for her instead because glue is not good.

Why do you say she's wearing it only for a bit?

I just noticed that she wrote a white one, even worse to use glue.

perhaps you don't know how to glue ... Confused

anyways from her title "silk white chassidic tichel" - they usually only use it to bentch licht and on yom kippur ...

where did you get the idea she could sew or have someone else finish it - she could buy one for that matter but she is looking to save $50

It doesn't cost that much money for a seamstress to finish the edges. Maybe 10 or 15.

do not use hot glue. go to a crafts store and use fabric glue. if you really don't know how to do this, put clear nail polish on the edges so it doesn't unravel. then fold a "hem" and tape it under with masking tape.
