debit card with your company's logo on it
I did $100 per employee but $70 is really nice
It comes in a pretty gift box (I think we paid extra)
and you can put a personalized message on it

As an employee, the last thing I want is a gift with my employers logo on it. It’s fine to use around the office, but I’m not wearing the name of my employer as a free advertisement for my employer in public, and I certainly don’t want my employers’s logo on a houseware item. This is not a chanukah gift. Even if employees tell you, they love it, I would hazard a guess that 80% of employees really don’t want that stuff.

If you’re willing to spend $70 on everyone, give them something without the logo on it.

ETA - I cross posted with the person below. That is the only acceptable way to use your logo on a chanukah gift.

I wish it didn't have to have the logo but not an option. Also they can't do debit cards because it's Medicaid company etc I don't really understand but it needs to be an item. Last year's gift was 130$ but we are more people now so they want to stay under 100. They also do huge party in restaurant that costs about 100$ + person

I fully agree with the posters about not putting the company logo on a gift. This is a gift for your employees to recognize their dedication to the company not to promote the company. It’s very off putting when a company does that. It’s clearly happened to me Very Happy

Money or debit card or Amazon gift card. Anything else is an insult and waste of money. Also skip the party and increase everyone's monetary bonus by the amount you would have spent for them on the party.

It needs to be an option. Its just a huge waste of money, it goes in the trash. I had an employer give me coasters as an end of your thank you gift after a particularly grueling year, and each coaster had the logo obnoxiously large, covered the entire thing. Why on earth would I want a set of coasters for a job I hated? Why would I want one for a job I liked? When I’m home I don’t want to think about work.

I’m so thankful for my current boss. They did a holiday party for employees and spouses, but they realized it was forced after hours attendance that everybody resented. Instead, they just gave us the cash value of each person’s expense for the party in an envelope. I can use that to go out for dinner with my husband instead of have to schmooze with colleagues after hours.

I don't want to out the company but they managed to give amazing gifts in past that had logo and were still very very useful. Think electronics not household decor;) we get nice bonus checks twice a year and they are giving bonuses at the party too.

And ps to PTA presidents - this is all true for teacher gifts also. Please don’t put “beis torah PTA” on teacher gifts.

Employers - work merch any other time of the year is still iffy and not likely to be used. As a chanukah gift? Just no.

I wonder if having a logo means the teachers don’t have to pay taxes.

We get docked taxes at work for gifts.

What about a set of Chanukah maoz tzur lucite cards.

When a company makes a holiday party they can take it as a business expense. When they gift gift cards instead it be ones taxable income snd everyone ends up paying taxes. So it’s an additional expense.

Gift cards and company gifts need to be reported by an employer as taxable income. That is especially why I dont like company gifts. At least if I have to pay taxes on a gift card I end up with something I want and not paying taxes on junk.

I’m not sure what makes gifts with logos not taxable. Or if they really aren’t taxable.

I just googled. In the US, even with a company logo, these corporate gifts are taxable.

The logo has nothing to do with taxes. It's something the owner wants very much. Tongue Out
