I disagree, the only not bais yaakov thing about Maayan is no knee socks required. Otherwise everything else about them is a standard bais yaakov camp. And the staff is pretty right wing bais yaakov.

I am actually seriously confused about Maayan. The girls that went there from DDs OOT class are families that wear short sleeves after bas mitzvah, will wear sandals with no socks to shul, and kids have smartphones in 5th grade already.
But we just moved to a new OOT city and the girls from here that went to that camp are much much more of the Bais Yaakov type - for instance they all wear knee socks everyday. There must be a huge range

The campers are not particularly Yeshivish.
The staff is.

Does anyone know if it’s “ok” to apply to both Maraava and Agudah Midwest? Do the dame people read the applications? And if they see we’ve applied to both would that lessen our chances of getting into Maraava?

Is this thread still accurate in the descriptions of the camps? Thinking about summer 2025!

Leaning towards AMW. Will my daughter's wardrobe fit in if it's not brand names? We have a lot of kidichic, And even the previous season? Is that social suicide?

Are the girls snobby or nice?

Thanks

My daughter is in Maarava now for her 3rd summer and the first year she also attended AMW. Bh she has had only fantastic experiences. I am not going to lie - she definitely was more exposed to brands and gashmius much more at camp than her BY in a large out of town community. However she knew we weren't going to be spending $$$$$ on outfitting her for camp. It's expensive as it is. After her first summer at camp she said that the only thing she really felt she was missing brand wise was a Lululemon fanny pack (instead of the cheaper generic one from Amazon she had taken). No problem, I got it for her for Chanukah. She on her own has saved up babysitting money each year to treat herself to a few other more expensive items (ex. If my budget was 5 skirts at $30 each she would add some money to get the $50-60 one she was eyeing at Udel type of thing. But she has plenty of Ali and Walmart and Amazon and Target clothes also. Her favorite Shabbos dress for summer was $18;from H&M. Hatzlacha!!

It is very hard to get in!! We got in by a nais, do you know anyone at Chicago agudah? It’s a large staff so not going to start naming everyone but I’m sure you know ultimately it’s up to Hashem. We applied to two other camps just to be safe because we knew it was so hard to get in. Also what grade is your daughter? If you want to go try for going into 7th..
