Most of my friends read and watched it. The first book is 100% clean. Is it for yeshivish girls who are sheltered? No. But most bais yaakov girls have heard of love from classics.

My friends and I read them and we went to a fairly yeshivish by school although we all from very frum but open minded homes. We were into them at ages 15-16.
There are heavy romantic themes and teenage angst about boys...
Common sense media is very good at providing you with specific guidance, it might be helpful to look there. Make sure you look at the page for the book and not the movies.

I'm pretty open minded MO and I have serious concerns about the violence in this series. I found it pretty shocking as an adult and don't think kids need to consider this until they are ready. I think our children are exposed to frightening amounts of violence and abuse from Shoah stories and what is going on in Israel without reading this kind of dystopia fiction.
The concepts are so so dark - a population kept under control by child sacrifice, children murdering each other to stay alive etc.
Just my opinion, feel free to ignore.

I read it as a teen BY girl who read non jewish books. As others have said it is has romantic scenes, but not zxual.
I didnt personally see an issue with the violence, but again I had also read other non jewish books.
And yes, pretty much every one of my friemds read them too.
