By naftali kempeh
Can someone explain to me please
The connection between the two pesukim from koheles?
The first possuk is that all rivers lead to the sea but the sea never fills
The second possuk is that at the end of the day, when all is considered, fearing Hashem and keeping his mitzvos is the whole duty of man.
(those are translations I paraphrased from the back of the Artscroll Stone Chumash)

The first is from the beginning of Koheles with reference to eternal cycles, what is the point of everything?
The second is the (second to) last pasuk in Koheles (also my favorite pasuk if you're allowed to have favorites) and answers the question!

The first posuk is referring to the futility of life in this world and the second one is saying that our job in this world is to serve Hashem which is eternal and therefore not futile.
So kind of
what's the point of life?
to serve Hashem.

I just used the passuk about the rivers flowing to the sea and the sea never getting full to explain to my husband that although I shop and cook and clean it never seems to be enough - the sea is not getting full
