Do you make round challahs for Rosh Hashanah, or your usual braided ones?

I don't bake, but my mother makes round braided - like a "square weave" , then braids the sides and tucks it under. Put it in a round tin and bake.

I don’t make challah. In the past, we got from my mother in law, who makes round. After October 7th, my daughter’s school did a challah bake, and since then she and my husband have been making challah every few weeks. I’m not sure what we are going to do this year, either he will make round, we will get round from my mother in law, or we will buy round. Bottom line is, round not regular, but I won’t be making it.

You can braid as usual and put the challah dough into a deep 8" round pan instead of your usual loaf pan. It rises and bakes round.

made a 2 kilo flour batch on Sunday it was the quickest it ever took me to get them in the oven. I wish I could get away with doing it all yr.

I've seen it in bakeries in England all year so I assume there are people buying it. I've been to people who serve round challah on regular Shabbos (also in England.)
Judging from your screen name, maybe you actually could get away with it!
