My almost 2 yr old knows the connection between pee and potty from watching his older sibling potty train.
He recently started announcing as he pees and pulling off his diaper.
So I decided to try training him.
I'm pretty sure he gets it. But he won't go on the potty, then goes on the floor afterwards.
He managed to get a few drops out couple times, and got really excited, and stopped.
Some things I noticed.
He goes around every half hr.
He goes standing, in a slight squat.
I thought maybe it's more natural for him to go standing, but he won't stay still long enough.. he already knows sit on potty..
Any ideas to get him to go that first time in the potty?
I can tell it's stressful on him, how do I get over that hump? I'm sure me being calmer would help. I am very wound up and nervous about accidents, might be coming on too strong..

It doesn’t sound like he is super ready. Before my dd turned 3 like maybe 2.5, she would pee on the floor. Or I would take her to the toilet and she’d think it’s a game come off and on etc. closer to three, when she was actually ready the training was a breeze and didn’t involve much training tbh. Just got it pretty much right away bH. So when he’s ready it will be easy. Doesn’t sound ready yet.

He’s too young. You can humor him here and there but I wouldn’t actively train him. He doesn’t understand it enough. Trying to train him when he’s not ready can cause issues down the line it’s not worth pushing it.
