I think it is well accepted that Hashem punishes, though I haven't researched this in depth. However, the challenge you will find is that we don't know Hashem's ways, so what may appear as a punishment could actually be a reward and vice versa.

You have tzadik v”ra lo and rasha V’tov lo.
Concurrently, if we say that Hashem rewards us in this world for mitzvahs how can you think the convers isn’t true.

We can't make these correlations. Yes, there is the still relevant concept of one who undergoes tzaros, "mefashfesh b'ma'asav." Consult a rav you respect.

"We are not Hashem's accountants."
And then you might want a discussion about ahavas Yisroel, being dan even your sibing lkz.

Explained that even though Hashem does punish we don't understand how and why and when. He's smarter than us and it's not something we're able to see in other people and usually even in ourselves. |
Yes!

Of course. The second paragraph of Shema. Ikrei emunah according to IIRC Rav Saadya Gaon. We have to lean in to the concept, but properly.

In some cases it can be not a punishment but just a natural consequence of your actions. Doing an aveira actually in reality changes your spiritual existence, and it could be that now you are incapable of absorbing a certain good Hashem wanted to give you. This is brought up by ben niddah.

We truly don’t know how Hashem works.
