Hi fellow teachers
I'm going to teach 3th & 5 th grade in this upcoming year.
I'd like to start my first lesson, w/ some rules on what I expect during my lessons & then getting to know my students.
They're big classes, between 18 to 26 girls.
So I thought, of handing out a sheet w/ X amount questions regarding themselves.
I.e. Do you prefer sweet snacks or salty?
I hope to use the same questions for 3th & 5th grade.
The purpose is twofold.
1) I can observe how they work
2) They feel their teacher is interested in them, and that they're not some anonymous student in a big classroom.
Could you help me, please, with appropriate questions for this age range?

How many siblings do they have
Where are they in the family
What do they like to do in their spare time
Do they have a special talent
What is their favorite subject at school
Is there something they would like you know about them

Google "student interest inventory" and take questions from that.
This is a nice idea

My pleasure ❤️ we're all in this together. I'm teaching kindergarten babies with autism again. I can't wait to meet them
