My 9 year old DS has classic ADHD.
There is a poster who posts often about herself and her kids really being helped by ADHD meds. I don't want to call her out specifically.
But maybe those who have been through it can help.
I tried Concerta, he complained of a headache that just persisted and wouldn't go away.
I tried Adderall. The 10mg doesn't do much and the 15mg just makes him lethargic.
I don't know what to try next.
What have you all been successful with?
School is starting and I know it's going to be a disaster.

I assume he’s seeing a psychiatrist who has been prescribing these medications? The psychiatrist should be able to guide him to new medications and advise on how to adjust the dose. If it’s just been a pediatrician prescribing, switch to a psychiatrist asap. You only need to see them till he’s stable on meds, then the pediatrician can prescribe.
Ask about trying Vyvanse.

Agree with above. You shouldn't be the one trying to figure it out. That's why there are psychiatrists.

Also realize that If your child complains about the medication then it's not good for your child. The school might say you must give it teachers might say it's awesome but at the end of the day your child gets the most say.

My son is on straterra. It helps anxiety also which was helpful for us. It’s a non stimulant so there was no lows or highs. Ask your dr about it. Took about 3 weeks to kick in.
