I'm not a doctor but if you went to three different ones plus a neurologist and they all agree then I wouldn't worry.

Maybe I’ll go back and ask him to recheck if we really need MRI

Like I’m assuming if it isn’t getting bigger then it wouldn’t be something too worrisome

But I’d want the neurologist to recheck

I wonder if you can go to a DO. A Doctor of Osteopathy - who may know more about the bones in the head

This is an interesting idea. I was also thinking about cranial osteopathy or some other kind of manipulative therapy. They can actually shift bones in the skull and they deal with asymmetry a lot. Maybe even a craniosacral therapist.

Op, interesting what you're saying about your dc. I have a child like this. I always assumed it's just the shape of the head. Never thought to check it out. It's been like this since birth. I noticed it a few days after birth and I thought it's from the birth and it will shapen itself out overtime. It never did.

Oh wow that is so good to know!!

I only noticed it at 1.5 years old that’s why I got concerned
it wasn’t something that she was born with from what I noticed, but apparently the dr said if it is a cyst it grows but they are born with it

How would they know if there’s a cyst inside the bone though??

Like it might not actually be asymmetry that’s why they want to do MRI to know..

But I hope it’s nothing and just normal asymmetric bezh!!

There is a Dr I use who does this maybe I’ll ask him over the phone or something

He’s not a pediatrician though

They can tell you from palpating and from experience if it looks and feels normal. They have extra training in this and deal with these types of things all day.

OP your last few posts are not anonymous.

Personally I’ve had experience with cysts and one of my siblings too, and ultrasound was enough, ever did an MRI. Can you ask them if it’s enough to monitor for a year to see if it grows from the outside (measurements change)?

Thanks I’m new to this😂

Not sure how to fix but I think it fixed

Was the cyst inside the bone? The dr said if it’s inside the bone they can’t see that on ultrasound only MRI

They said they can keep an eye on it but they were more worried about my anxiety over anything

I don't agree
I've seen so many moms make mistake (not necessarily medical other stuff) and I look back to when I was a young mom.in my 20s I definitely didn't know best

If you want to hear a different opinion, I think I would want to know for sure whether it’s something to be concerned about rather than constantly live with the fear of the unknown.

Do you live in NY? If yes pm me. I had a child with a sticking out bone in their skull and went to a top doctor who literally only does pediatric skull abnormalities for decades. Posting under my sn in case I can help.

That was my first thought too.
Go check it out by a DO. They are literally trained for this.

If you need good recs, lmk.

Re the MRI. MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Its a very safe form of imaging. But its not a quick scan like an xray. And depending on what your scanning, it can take a long long time.
I've had 2. I just layed very still. My kid needed one 4 years ago. She was 5 and she was put to sleep. Took 1.5 hours the entire thing. I'm not generally an anxious person. But it is scary putting your child to sleep.
I've had to do it to 2 kids. One kid 3 times. One kid once. It's freakish. I'm not gonna lie.
But even though their def are risks, it's generally a safe thing to do due to all the precautions and medical staff there to make sure it all goes OK.

If I were you. Being that you didn't notice it as a baby and only now, I'd probably consult with the DO and then take it from there. I'd probably be inclined to yes do the MRI.

I would not do it. If she needs to be put to sleep, there are risks of developmental delays with anesthesia, and if she isn’t put to sleep, it will likely be extremely traumatic for her.

Does she have any asymmetry in her head? Like flat on one side or wider at the back? This can cause protrusions in other parts of the skull.

Please don't give your toddler anesthesia because of your anxiety. There are long-term effects for anesthesia in toddlers. And if your anxiety is that bad, a short time after the MRI, you'll find something new to worry about.
