My baby had a bad allergic reaction to eggs a few days ago and since then she's been spitting up after her bottles (formula) and getting a little red on her face.
Is it possible she was always allergic/sensitive to dairy and the reaction made it more severe?
She does always have eczema so it could be it was affecting her there

I don’t know if the reaction would set off another reaction, but eggs and dairy are both eczema triggers. FYI so are wheat, nuts, peanuts, sesame, and soy, so give those cautiously.
Do you have an allergist?

Yes, I know, she is off a lot of food and so was I when I was nursing.
I don't have allergies and neither does dh
I don't have an allergist because I was told that where I live they won't test until 1 years old

Yes. An allergic reaction can last for a while and cause reactions to things you're not really allergic to. It can also trigger the start of new allergies sometimes. I recommend you speak to an allergist. If the office won't book you, ask to speak directly to the doctor. Even if they won't do testing. There's a lot to learn. And your baby might need a multi-day course of antihistamines or steroids. Please speak to a doctor if you can. Google obsessively if you can't

Usually, if a child has a severe allergic reaction, they should be taking 3-5 days of steroids to prevent further immune system activation. At the very least, they should take be on an antihistamine. Is your child on anything?
I have had kids allergy tested under a year both in Israel and the US. Don't assume the allergist wouldn't do it. Make an appt and go speak them.
Refua shelaima! I know how unnerving this can be. Good luck!

You absolutely need an allergist now. My doctor sees all ages for food allergies including newborns. You must be under care of one it’s not safe to ignore. Even if they don’t test they create safety plans, and follow your kid, give you instructions and are available for questions any time. Pleas go now.

Please ignore stupid advice like "they don't test under a year." Ask around, or post here with your location, and I'm confident you can find an allergist who will test. A baby shouldn't be off numerous foods unnecessarily, and if the eczema is persisting then it's not the solution anyway.

It wasn't advice, it was an experience a friend had that she went to the appointment and they wouldn't test.
I live in Jerusalem and would love recommendations for a good allergist.
The pediatrician wasn't very helpful when I brought her in the next day.

I’m not in Israel but I had my baby tested at 6 months. The doctor did say that testing can be unreliable at this age but it helped me know how to start feeding her new foods, and I have someone to consult now when she does react. Plus we were able to see that she does have some seemingly severe allergies so I know what foods to avoid and which to introduce cautiously, and I got her an epipen just in case.
You should see an allergist.

My baby had this and I switched to an amino acid based formula (elecare) until we went for allergy testing. Turns out he was allergic to milk and eggs and nuts but not soy

Please find a different doctor! Babies definitely can have allergies and dangerous allergic reactions! I know multiple kids who had allergic reactions as babies and 1 year olds. Some quite severe. Even if they don’t test bc they say testing isn’t super accurate yet, they can advise and give you a more knowledgeable idea as to what’s triggering and what you should stop giving her and in case something happens then what you should do/give her to help.

There is no such thing as screening For allergies in the way that you are screening for let’s say colon cancer in a 50-year-old that doesn’t have symptoms yet. Not only is there no such thing it is officially not recommended by the aaaai or acaai. Your child has a reaction to eggs and possibly dairy. Those are the only two things That should be tested. Anything else will potentially lead to false positives and you will have food avoidances for nothing or you will have to go through an office food challenge for nothing to rule out the false positives.
Allergy tests are not like pregnancy test. They only tell you half of the story you need some sort of suspicion Behind it for it to make sense.

We took my dd to an allergist in Malcha mall when she was about 10 months old and he tested her. I'm sorry, I don't remember the name. Dd is almost 14 so it's been a while.
