I think efrat might be too modern . Look into Maaleh Amos which is about 10 min past efrat. There's around 150 families. And cheaper housing. And yards. Some Americans. They have plans to build a lot more housing. Right now it might be a little right wing but after building it will def be more of a range of ppl. There's chassidim there too and 1 or 2 chassidish shuls. But I would say most ppl are not chassidish.

Sometimes I see people who live in Jerusalem. Daniella Reno, the lady who does penniless parenting. And more. How do these people make Jerusalem work?
There is something compelling me to Jerusalem, I just can’t imagine anything better than waking up in the morning and walking the streets of Jerusalem for my morning walk.

Danielle Renov is Peaslovencarrots , not penniless parenting.
She moved to Jerusalem as a young married with babies. She lives in an apartment in a very expensive area of Jerusalem. How does she make it work? No one is privy to her finances obviously but her children grew up in Israel, most were born here, and from what she shares on Instagram, they go to chareidi schools.

The lady who does penniless parenting does not live in jerusalem. She lives in a yishuv outside jerusalem.

Not to make this too personal but she’s very open about where she is from. Her family is wealthy.
I can delete this if it feels too specific but op people who are making this work have the money from somewhere. It is beyond difficult- maybe not doable, to plan for Aliyah without first figuring out your finances.
You don’t have to be rich but you have to be responsible and realistic.

I agree. I don't think Efrat is a good fit.

Sorry, but I completely disagree. I think if you have the will and emuna Hashem will make it work.(speaking as someone who arrived literally penniless and without support with my husband and now we both have b”h very well paying jobs)

I know a few people who made aliyah in debt with no money to their name. They are all doing pretty well here.
But they don't live in Jerusalem as well. Although I do know people living in Jerusalem who are very low income.
OP will have to sacrifice something. If you want to make Jerusalem work you can, you might just have to be in a small apartment on the third floor with no elavator

Neve Yaakov technically part of Jerusalem is nice and smallish and has a wonderful chassidish community and davening. The community is very Anglo there.
Maale Amos is a new chassidish kehila in yehuda v’shomron:

Maale amos is mot new at all. It was founded in the 1980s. And is not only chassidish. Its overall charedi.

We would probably be chareidi. Or charedi lite. Or chordal. What’s the difference between all?
