Of course it’s fine. You don’t need a friend at your side every minute. If she’s comfortable and confident about it, support her and let her do it. I have a kid like this, she loves doing things herself and always makes friends wherever she goes.

Not sure the type of course but there are no norms with this. She is doing what she needs to in order to make parnasah. Unless you are concerned about her going onto a non Jewish campus/being the only frum one in class in which case you could try to find someone else interested in that field to do the course together.

Thanks for responding. This is a frum course so it’ll be only frum girls. I was thinking it might be more fun and motivating if she does it together with a friend.

Why does she think? If she’s fine going alone don’t force her to go with someone.

I’m not forcing her to go with someone but I’m thinking maybe she shouldn’t do it now if she can’t find a friend. I’m debating telling her to wait until she has an opportunity to do it with a friend.

If its something like lifeguarding, then its definitely easier to do it with a friend, so she will have a partner.

My daughter just took lifeguarding course with a friend)

That is unfair. It’s fine to go alone. Why would you tell her to push it off? She’s getting older and she’ll have to get a job and find a husband without friends at her side. It’s great for her to have the confidence and ability to pursue her dreams on her own. I would not break that by insisting on something so unnecessary.

Doing things with friends is fun however learning to have the ability to do things on your own builds confidence. It’s an important life skill that many are lacking.

Is it a transportation issue, that you want her to do it with a friend so you can carpool? That I could understand. Otherwise, I don't see why you would dissuade her from doing it alone.

I actually think it’s quite impressive of her that she is ready to go it alone! Good for her! If she’s the type that might drop it if she doesn’t have someone at her side for motivation, that’s a valid concern, but only you would know that, and even then, discuss it with her - maybe she deserves a chance to prove herself.
