I wasn't sure which forum this would go into.
Has anyone done this? Would I be able to sell my hair?
I have nice highlights in my hair, but it's not that thick. It's medium brown w/ red and blond highlights.

I think that there is a minimum length that it has to be.

op here
I know there is a minimum length and it's getting there. I just want to know if this is even an option. Even if it's not that much money. I can use it...

I don't know if you could sell it.
You could look into donating it to Chai lifeline and see if they will give a tax rebate for what the hair is worth. But I don't know if that will help you at all.

locks of love and other places take donations ... if you find a place to actually sell it let me know ... I'd be curious how much one can get ...

Yup...You could donate it to Locks of Love or like the other poster said, if Chai Lifeline can do something with it...
You won't get much money from selling it.

I actually did this but did not ask for a tax receipt. Perhaps try calling the number below and see what they say.
Chai Lifeline welcomes donations of hair to be made into wigs for Jewish children.
1. Hair must be a minimum of 12 inches long.
2. Hair must be cut while styled in a ponytail or braid.
3. Hair can be cut wet or dry.
4. Insert dry ponytail into a Ziploc bag.
5. It can be mailed via regular mail.
Mail the ponytail to:
Chai Lifeline Attention: Chaya Klein
151 West 30th St. New York, NY 10001

I don't want to spread rumors, but what I was told is that Locks of Love does not use the hair for cancer patients. I'm not sure what they do with it, but you may want to check into it.

Its makes me smile thinking of a delivery of a ponytail
Do you need to send along a comb for the journey?

You can sell it, if you find someone willing to buy it. It goes by wight, and you will not get more then 6-10 dollars an ounce.

Maybe it's a European thing but I shudder at the mere thought of all this cut hair especially those styled. Sorry.
