Is anyone else being affected by what us apparently a worldwide Internet problem?

I haven't seen anything on the news so far, but at work we have no functional computers. When I started googling, there are reports of issues affecting flights, banks, hospitals, media organisations, all over the world.

For anyone in Israel, don't go to kupat cholim now, unless it is urgent. We've got no computers, and no patient files, and emergency treatment is being recorded by hand. Some of the hospitals are in similar situations.

The websites I've seen are blaming it on some software fault. Everyone at work is blaming Iran, admittedly, based on no evidence whatsoever.

It's interesting to see how Internet dependent we've become!

From Times of Israel:

"The Health Ministry says that there is a global outage in computer services that is also affecting a number of hospitals in Israel.

In a statement, the ministry stresses that it is not a cyber attack but rather a technical malfunction in a program that is used around the world.

Separately, the Magen David Adom ambulance service says that its emergency hotlines are experiencing an outage, and that those needing their services should call the police."

My home internet is fine. We are not just internet dependent, every time the electricity goes out it's like the end of the world.

Update also from TOI

"n apparent global malfunction linked to the IT security firm Crowdstrike on Microsoft’s Windows operating system has caused worldwide outages at banks, airlines, news outlets, health systems and other organizations around the world.

The airport in Berlin has halted flights, the UK health booking system is offline and Australian media outlets as well as British Sky News are not operational as a result of the outage which appears to be linked to the same software glitch.

In Israel, the fault has affected some hospitals as well as the Israel Postal Service and some news outlets. Flights may be delayed at Ben Gurion Airport due to delays elsewhere linked to the outage, the airport says."

I can't do much at work, so I'm wasting time on my phone. I'm also having g no problems using it. It seems to be large organisations that are affected, not private users.

I'm hearing that some hospital have been affected, but not all.

In kupat cholim I haven't had computers all day, so we're only doing necessary treatments, and recording it by hand.

The latest update on government systems worldwide glitched
At the moment the only 'fix' is restarting each pc to the bias safe mode that will take days to sort. Hopefully an update will be sorted quicker.
It's worldwide but Israel has been affected the worst.

I just drove home from work and heard about the Microsoft crowdstrike on the overnight news. It has apparently affected some government and banking websites here in Canada, but I don't have further details.

I just got a list of hospitals in Israel that have been affected.

Shaarei Tzedek
Hillel Yafeh
Laniado
Barzilai
Sheba
Wolfson
Asaf haRofeh
Rambam
Ma'ayanei haYeshua
Poriah
Ziv
French Hospital in Natzrat

They're working on emergency plans, taking notes by hand. I don't know if this list is complete, or there are others.

Meuhedet is affected, but the other kupot don't seem to have a problem.

In Jerusalem, they'll be sending as many people as possible to Hadassah, since they have computers, but that might mean increased waiting time.

Hadasa and the other Kuppahs must be using Linux not windows.
Mac users (very uncommon for Israeli companies) are also not affected

The funny thing is it's literally takes 2 mins to fix but each individual computer needs to be done.
Elfrida if you want to go back to work I'll send you the steps to do your pc.... Tongue Out

Finished for today thank you! 😉
Friday is only half day.

I don't actually think I can do it from my computer. We have little that we can do to the computers insides. It all has to come from technical support.

Interesting. I also read how to fix it and it's pretty easy.

I was in the hospital once when computer systems were down, it wasn't a big deal. Just a ton of actual paper to shlep around and be sent home with.

Right, but from the staff's perspective, not having acssess to the records makes it much harder, and writing everything by hand (and reading what someone else has scrawled by hand) takes much longer..

I did some shopping after work, and some shops weren't able to use their credit card machines.

Well, we instantly blamed Iran when it first happened, but since the Crowdstrike have admitted that it was a fault in the update they recently released. So bang go the conspiracy theories...
