It might look that way online but not in person. It’s a very light thin material, not clingy but nothing like real denim/jean it’s just denim color.

I’m surprised, I went to camp bais yaakov (yeshivish), we all wore denim! When did it become not yeshivish?
I’m still wearing it and never stopped. No back pockets or slits though.
Also I live in Monsey, we were always pretty casual here compared to Brooklyn/ Lakewood.

Not sure what you mean by "new" I'm 30 and have been wearing denim since I was a kid.
It might be new for jewish stores, but I've been wearing for a while from anthropologie, gap, and random other places

Everything old becomes new when new people discover it. I had a tiny little denim skirt back around 1960, and have been practically living in denim skirts since at least 1970. I'm never without one: as soon as one wears out, I get another.

I am JPF but raised yeshivish and I don't wear denim as a personal thing, don't have any judgment on those who do

Pretty much every girl I knew growing up wore a denim skirt with keds and either a sweatshirt or a Benetton sweater. It was practically a uniform from high school through early 20s.

Considered not yeshivish in my circles but I still wear it. I didn’t see a problem with it. But I’m not that yeshivish because I also think the boys black and white dress code is ridiculous.

Denim is a durable fabric intended for physical labor. If you see physical labor as unrefined, you probably don't want to wear denim. If you have no problem being associated with it, there's no issue with denim.
My husband does plumbing and neither he nor I wear denim. What in the world …

From what I can tell, yeshivish people that wouldn't have been caught dead in denim five years ago are now all wearing denim. Most common is a solid white or black t shirt (often ribbed) tucked into a denim skirt. Usually a dark denim, and definitely not stone washed or with pockets or the like. It's a more formal and less casual look than the denim we wore years ago (very loose, shirts tucked out...)
This applies to (yeshivish) people in their teens-twenties. I think the older (40s?) still has it in their head that denim is "bummy"

im yeshivish and I would wear the denim look but I live in israel now so im holding back out of respect for the yeshivish israeli culture.

OP if you want to wear it, keep an eye out with neighbors, coworkers, that kind of thing....

In my days every BY girl owned a Bis denim skirt. Then I moved to EY and stopped wearing denim. When I moved back I still didn't put it on. My yeshivish siblings don't wear denim.

I don't think she was implying that everyone who does manual labor wears denim.

But it is true that denim jeans were first developed for manual laborers (farmers, ranchers, miners, etc). The stiff fabric and riveted stress points made for durable clothing.

(I don't have any problem with denim -- it's been worn as acceptable casual everyday clothing for decades)

Yeshivish, would wear only very dark denim pleated or A line.

This is also my preference. You can get some very stylish adorable denim pleated skirts on aliexpress. For reference I’m 41 and raising my kids in an Israeli chareidi community.
