Is my only option to do something extreme like surgery or shots?
Feels so unfair that whatever diet I try works for the first 5 pounds and then I plateau. I am good about sticking to my program but my body wouldn't budge.
Thyroid is good as per my blood test.
I really wouldn't want anything invasive but what are my options?

Inquire about their program, it works more on the emotional part and officially works wonders. Not tried and tested

Have you tried strict keto? I’m hypothyroid and it worked for me but I really need to track carbs

It's not healthy but what I've done in the past is severely strict calories and drink coffee. Once I would shed a good amount of weight I would eat balanced meals and try to maintain it

I would also lose a bit in the beginning and stop losing very fast

I don't need anything for the emotional part. I physically don't lose no matter what I try.

What kind of thyroid testing did you run and did you look at the results yourself? Unfortunately very many drs are not educated enough regarding thyroid labs and how to understand them.

Adrenals and cortisol is also a very overlooked cause when it comes to weight loss resistance

I'm not sure myself. I did not look at the results myself. I trusted the doctor when he said my thyroids are good. Can you tell me exactly what to ask my doctor to test for? Is there a blood test for adrenals and cortisol? Will my doctor test me if I ask him to? Should I go to a specialist?

Whenever I have tried that, I gained back double when I started eating even a bit more.

You should try seeing a nutritionist. You may need to build your metabolism. Eat more, different times, different foods etc

Please chech thyroid
and once you have results, before going to daily for life meds, try iodine and natural, even just one month.
Nothing to lose.

That's expected. The "diet" has to be a permanent change in what and how you eat, not temporary. Helps to hire a registered dietitian for at least 1-2 sessions to create a meal plan tailored to your body. For a Torah approach, look at the Food section of TorahHealth.org. Good luck!

No! You don't need surgery or shots which can super-duper backfire. What you need is a registered dietitian to give you a custom-made food plan for your body and your tastes and your goals. LMK if you want recommendations of frum RDs. What we all (myself included) need to do is make permanent changes in what and how we eat, not temporary diets. In the meantime, you can do a lot of this yourself following the Torah approach, at TorahHealth.org. You can do this!

Sorry if it sounds nitpicky, but what she needs is a dietitian - they are not the same. Anyone can call themself a nutritionist, but an RD is a highly-trained medical professional.

minimum is tsh, t4, t3, reverse t3, 2 thyroid antibodies.
Dr will tell you normal if it's anywhere within range but really it needs to be optimal. Optimal ranges can be found on stopthethyroidmadness.com

For adrenals you probably need an endo, ask for a 24 he 4 pt saliva cortisol test. Even better would be a DUTCH with a functional md.

Not at all!

I'm going to second working on the emotional side in conjunction with the food.

We don't even realize how much the emotional plays in it. Even if just skewing our perspective on what a proper "diet" is and timeframes.

When you say you tried "diets", can you give an example of what diet, for how long you stuck with it, and what were the obstacles that came up for you?

Everyone is slightly individual so without more information, it's really difficult to advise without the specifics.
