I've been hearing a lot about not taking a baby boy out in public before his bris.
Is this a minhag? Halacha? Or is there any actual source for this?
Thank you!

Now I'm just curious if anyone has ever heard of this?

I was thinking the same. I did go out but to bring the baby to the clinic and back to the hospital for a check up.
Also my baby was taken to the vacht nacht (was in a neighbor's house), does that count?

Source? I never heard of this.
Also OP, if it's not your dh minhag and his Rav never heard of it, why are you keeping it?

In my case a preemie, so until they are ready for this bris it can be quite a few weeks after they come home from the hospital.

I’ve only ever heard this related to health. They want to ensure that the Bris is on time and doesn’t need to be push off due to the baby catching a virus or whatnot.

I never heard of not taking the baby out before bris, I have heard of mother not going out unnecessarily and unattended before benching gomel/ hearing kedusha (or the like) at 30 days.
What is your family telling you the reason is?

My husband is makpid that the first thing you take a baby to is a mitzva whether a boy or girl. For a boy that's usually the bris.
