Washing machine rubber literally has black spots all over it.
Is it safe to use?
What can I do to get rid of it?

I wipe it down with bleach then I run the clean cycle on my machine with bleach and then wipe it down again.

Bleach in what form?
And how do you make sure it doesn't ruin your clothes?

Plain laundry bleach poured on an old shmatteh. Wipe down the rubber, then wipe again a few times with a shmatteh wet with plain water. Then run a load of bleachable whites, so residual bleach, if any, will be washed away and will not affect the wash.

you can also use alcohol against mold, this will not discolor your clothes.

You may have to replace the rubber gasket.
