Hi,
I’m artistic and enjoy painting, but my results are mediocre, although I get loads of complements on them.
Is there an online series of classes (not YouTube, something I’d pay for and wouldn’t get distracted by related videos, something that follows a linear pattern of growth in this art) that any of you can recommend?
I actually was given a few hundred dollars as a gift and decided this is what I want to buy.

Spend the money on quality paint. You don't have to get the best paint, but the really cheap stuff has very little pigment, and it's very frustrating to use. Also get good brushes and tools.

I have bought courses on Skillshare and learned a lot. Domestika is another site that has art classes in various styles. Is there an artist whose work you like? I’d start off by checking if they have any online classes.

I haven't done any of his paid courses, but I really liked Rod Moore's style of teaching.
I'm actually an artist by profession (not a painter), but I found that Rod Moore filled in some big gaps I had in color, composition, etc.
Have fun creating! Good for you for investing in your talents!
