I think this is something I see on a lot of threads. People in chutz laaretz care and want to be involved in what is happening, which is great. They are watching all the videos and reading news updates to keep up with what is going on because they care. But at the end of the day, they are removed from it, it doesn't have the same emotional load that we have here. So lots of times things I read here (or on other places, or that my family in chu"l say) annoy or upset me. But I know it doesn't come from any kind of bad intentions, just someone who is living in a different world. So much so that they don't even imagine that what they are saying or how they are saying it could be sensitive for us. |
I get this.
Although I also see a lot of sensitivity and a real sense of שיתוף גורל on this site from posters in chutz la'aretz - more than I've ever seen before in the considerable number of years that I've been here - and it's greatly appreciated.
I just thought this was an issue of common sense.

This is a long thread. You missed it. His name came up.
I love his music but I can hear how music and musicians from different places and cultures sound very different. When I hear Eastern influenced Israeli music (Ishay Ribo doesn’t fall into that category) sung by Jews from North Africa I hear a muezzin. It makes me cringe, especially when they’re singing shma yisrael or some other tefilla. It’s all a matter of what you’re used to. Other people find it inspirational and beautiful.
This wasn’t a good time for op to start this thread. It’s a bad time to suggest Israelis aren’t the best at cooking, dressing their kids, playing basketball, speaking English or just about anything. I feel bad op was attacked though. I don’t think there was any malicious intent. Op, if you’re still brave enough to be here, at least one ima here wishes you Shabbat Shalom!
