Yep- every time. I use water and it comes out great. I don't see any difference from when I use almond milk.

I rarely use pareve milk. Always water.
For chocolate cake, though, I would either use an equal amount of cold brewed coffee or the same amount of water with some dissolved instant coffee.
For example, for 1 cup water, a tbsp of instant coffee. Really takes the chocolate flavor up a few notches.

Oh smart…I ended up using watered down peach grape juice.. hope it’s ok

We always do one cup water and one cup coffee. We like it way better than with pareve milk.

You can use any liquid. Water is fine. For a major splash, use liqueur. Mint (creme de menthe) chocolate, almond (amaretto), orange, coffee, hazelnut, cherry, they'll all enhance the flavor big time. It's expensive, but if you happen to have it hanging around and you're not liqueur drinkers, why let it sit around evaporating little by little?

I know everyone has their own taste, but I really dislike chocolate cake with coffee. People swear I won’t be able to taste it, but I want my chocolate cake straight up.
