Anyone teach in a school that was trained as a Schools Attuned school? I'd love to hear your experience.

I was very instrumental in getting some of our teachers trained in the method. What an awesome method. I am a strong proponent of Dr Levine's methods of helping kids.

I also had my own child evaluated. Amazing!!

I was trained but not my school, its an incredible program. I do not know of any schools were the entire staff was trained together but I would imagine that it must make for an incredibly revolutionary institution!

I just finished getting the part one training, along with some teachers from my school and other Jewish day schools. I was just wondering how the training impacted on the teaching. It really is awesome, but I wonder if I'll be able to pull it off when I have the demands of the classroom and curriculum (translate- TIME). Any suggestions?

My feeling about "pulling it off" even though I am NOT a teacher, is, surely every teacher wants their students to succeed -- I think a sign of a good teacher is a child who is successful -- and if this is a method that will make it so much easier for a child to succeed, why not make the extra time to do it?

Whatever the requirements are after the assessment, surely it has to be less time consuming than the old methods which don't seem to work?

I also believe that my son, who was assessed, and has gone "away from our derech, but not all the way off it" would have been in a very different place, yiddishkeit-wise, esteem-wise, education-wise, etc, if he would have been assessed and "attuned" earlier when something could still be done.

My gosh, to see the look on his face when he got the results and he said to me, "Mommy, I'm not stupid!" was priceless and would have been enough incentive for me to sleep less, work harder, do whatever it took to help other kids as well as him, with what they needed, if you have the tools!

to attune each child properly, in a class of 25 kids is timewise nearly impossible. wat I think iis importnat here is the awareness and th e ability to properly assess problems/learning difficulties. there are also many things u can implement on a class level that might b unnecessary 4 some kids but a life saver for others. I do not demystify all my students, I asses them generally and then do the whole shebang when/if there is a problem. feel free 2 PM me for more ideas/clarification.
