Hi
My mothers yahrtzeit coming up. Is it appropriate for a bunch of women to learn something and make a siyum for the yartzeit or is it a man thing?

I think that if it’s done in an eidel/private manner it would be wrong not to do because it’s typically done by men.
As a side note, I think promoting Torah within women is an amazing thing.

Personally I think that’s a beautiful idea

Sorry, I'm a little unclear. Do you mean it would be wrong to hold back purely because its done by men?

I know someone who does a siyum on Tanach with many friends and relatives participating.
Although in Yeshivish circles it's definitely not common. What's usual is to complete Mishnayos, whether six sedarim or fewer, and that's usually done by the men in the family.
