My 2.5 year old son (will be 3 on 18 Av - 23 August) is in the middle of training. He's doing pretty well but still has accidents once or twice a day, and is undependable in the poopy department.

At home he's in underwear because I want him to feel when he has an accident.

We start camp on Friday (I work there, so he comes with me but will be in the nursery bunk, not in the mother's helpers room where I supervise). I don't know whether to send him in pullups so he doesn't mess everything or in underwear, so he will progress. I am pretty sure he thinks of pullups as a "big boy diaper" though.

The morah seems cool with having him in underwear but I feel bad to have him mess too much. Thoughts?

I'd go with underwear if the teacher is okay with it and you're there. He'll probably learn faster.

He'll definitely get the hang of it much faster especially if there will be other kids using the bathroom. I find an away from home place with a schedule and regular bathroom routine being more succesful in helping with this process.

Good luck!

Stick with underpants. Once he sees what everyone else is doing then he will follow them. Just bring along some change of clothes. Do not put on pull ups-it keeps them back from being fully trained.

I'm in theh exaact same position. this is what I did.

I bought diaper doublers - you can buy them on amazon - and stuck them between 2 pairs of underwear sewn together. this way, he feels he is in underwear, not pullups, but if he does have an accident, he isnt in an embarrassing puddle with wet patches on hsi shorts. it's working out great. he comes home wet most days, but not soaked.
