I think it's the water that does this, but it leaves a horrible black mark and I use a towel and wipe it away but it doesn't seem to help that much. Does anyone know of any product that will clean it?
Oh, it's in rubber seal of the front of the machine. Yes I do leave my washing machine open after use and it gets used once a day.

Thanx, but it doesn't really have anything on the rubber seal bit.
Apart from rubbing down the top of the machine but I have a side opening one and the rubber seal is very hard to properly clean.

I don't know if this will work on the black mark (sounds like mould or the rubber is slowly disintegrating) but I clean my machine out with vinegar. I pour a bottle of vinegar (can be synthetic) into the place where the powder goes and put the machine on a cycle. The vinegar gets rid of the white hard water build-up and if it is mould that's in the machine, it should get rid of that too. No, it doesn't leave a smell!!

cool, if I put it in ball will it have the same affect? Reason I ask is because I don't use a powder and that is because if I put powder in the draw thing it doesn't work I don't know why, it's messed up, but as it isn't mine I don't mind and I prefer liquid washing detergent anyway and that suits me quite fine.
I will try it with vinegar.

I tried the vinegar in the machine and it didn't get rid of the marks on the seal. I guess I will have to rub it down as much as I can.

sorry to hear that. Well, at least you know that it cleaned out the hard water residue inside that you can't see....
