Anon cuz I don't need those that know me to know my childs private issues.

My son had an extrememly difficult time toilet training. Once toilet trained he still had accidents all the time in school. Finally took him to a pediatric urologist who put him on Oxytrol Patch for 3 months. I went back recently and she told me it did what it needed to and now he needs to take control by going every 2 hours.

I promised him if hes try for 2 weeks he gets a prize that he really wants. For one week he was dry and filled in his chart daily. This week he is wet every day. I spoke to him many times each time he gives a different excuse.

Prizes aren't working - I don't think I want to punish him and make him feel worse about himself but I am plotzing.

If you have any suggestions what to do please tell me.

I would suggest taking him to a good chiropractor/kinesiologist or homeopath. Soemtiemst he bladder needs strengthening. I had a relative who wet his bed til past bar mitzvah and after months of seeing a chiro/kinesiologist the problem finally went away.

I have there same situation. I am going now to Dr. Glassberg, he has offices in BP and in Colombia. He put my son on a medication that is working, he had us do some tests and I felt he was really thorough.

I've been to a great dr. who helped us and my question was that now that the medical part is taken care of how do I motivate my child who doesn't seem to care about being wet even in school, and even with prizes or threats of punishment are told to him.

Rewards need to be small and tangible, like stickers or something like that.

Threats and punishments NEVER work, don't even GO there.

Make sure he changes himself, and takes care of himself when he wets.

I had a son who used to wet during the day, and found out it was an emotional problem which my AK chiropractor FIXED.

It might be attention getting behavior. Maybe try for 1 week to act totally bored and emotionless each time it happens. If he comes to tell you he's wet, just say "Oh, I think there are some dry pants in your drawer." You're totally not going to give him attention when he's wet. Make him responsible for changing his clothes and in no way react to the wetness.

When he does something responsible or good, please be sure to give him lots of positive feedback.

Hatzlacha.
