The main part of my shabbos/yom tov meal is usually the salads. Most of my salads are spicy, as that is the taste my dh and I prefer.
Would I be able to serve the same salads or do I have to omit some/all? Would love some help on this subject as well as some ideas of ideal Rosh Hashana salads without fruits
Some of the salads I usually make are:
salade cuite - it's a spicy tomato dip
chatzlim
morrocan carrot salad-spicy
pasta salad
corn salad
roasted pepper salad
cabbage salad - contains vinegar, but also sugar (does that balance it out)
potato salad - contains vinegar and pickles, so has a sour taste.
avocado
lettuce salad

Pasta & corn dont need to be spicy. I end up making salads with vinegar together with other ingredients in them because otherwize there's nothing else. Salads are a big part of my meals too.

carrot salad
grated carrots
grated apples
crushed or tidbits, canned pineapple with the juice
cinamon
lemon juice (optional)
sugar (if you like it sweeter)
you can also add orange juice, and leave out either apples or pineapple, whatever you like.

beet salad
slice beets thinly
grated apples
small amount water
allow to simmer for I'm not sure maybe 30-45 min. till soft
should be naturally sweet but if you want sweeter then add sweetener

this salad is also really good and you can make it for rosh hashana:
bag of spinach
cherry tomatoes
hearts of palm - 1/2 can
1 avocado diced
5 oz. sliced mushrooms
dressing:
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp mustard
1/4 tsp paprika
1/3 cup oil
1/4 cup ketchup
1 clove garlic chopped
I love this dressing and make it with regular fresh salad, lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers. sometimes I add hearts of palm, baby corn, whatever else I find. it comes out delicious.

actually, the real dressing called for vinegar too. one shabbos I was out of vinegar and already made the rest of the dressing so I decided just to try it out like that. it came out even better without the vinegar so I keep it that way now.
