Kittens dont smell if trained well. Rabbits smell. I cant thunk if any other indoor/outdoor pet.
Get goldfish if you want something low maintenance.

Any animal (except maybe a fish) is going to produce bodily waste which can smell and needs cleaning on a regular basis. Cats are naturally house trained, and just need providing with a litter box, which has to be cleaned regularly. If they have free acssess to the outside, they don't even need that.
Dogs can be house trained quite easily. Smaller animals that live in a cage are harder to train. You will need to clean out the cage regularly, and the longer you leave it the more it is likely to smell.

What sort of climate do you live in, that you're considering leaving a pet outside?

But please don’t let them outside, they kill birds.

I live in Israel. I'm not considering anything, I'm just asking.

My brother has a gecko. I love the gecko. And when we had little kids visit, they liked the gecko too.

We live in israel and have dwarf hamsters, a bird, fish and a turtle.
Goldfish are high maintenance spend a little more for cleaner fish.
