You select the item you want to keep colored.Copy and paste it as a new image. Turn the original to b&w. Copy the whole b&w image and paste it as a new image. Go back to your colored object. Copy it. Go back to new b&w picture. Paste as new layer, over the proper spot.

Original photo
With a filter. This photo reminds me of some of the old pictures from NYC in the early 1900's with kids playing in the streets around pushcarts and horses. Or the photos of kids living in mining towns...
Black, white and blue

You have PhotoShop? Any editing software?
She used a filter to make it look grainy.

I use Photoshop CS2.
I downloaded a filter program called Virtual Photographer from optikVerve Labs: http://www.optikvervelabs.com/ I highly recommend it. Download it and the free additional settings.

YALT, I absolutely LOVE the way the mirror is reflecting the light onto your son's face. Awesome shot. Try cropping the hand out of it for an even cooler effect

yeah, GAMZu, I know. but that photo was "mine" (I took it - not DH).
And DH enjoys playing around with his. Not with mine. (He likes to see a start to finish by himself)
And I don't have patience these days to sit and play around with these photo editors.
It's actually quite an old photo.
Ruthanne,
DD is starting to smile. But only at Tatty. And it's just quick ones. So I can't get cute photos yet. To me, at this stage, it's just the outfits that change. Is that what you look at in a photo? the outfit or the kid? I want my kid to be the attraction. So I'll be patient, and post pics when she's up to that.
Although with that head of hair - she definitely gets people's attention!)

A picture that my son took of me and his brother this summer.
The photographer was almost 3 years old at the time.

Very nice - I especially like the one with mother and son taken by "big brother", really well made, kol ha kavod!
For the others, no idea how yiou do it to keep just one item coloured, I didn´t learn that, but it looks fantastic.
Here´s my daughter Leah, 6 months, bli Ayin hara
It looks like she drinks, very concentrated on her task, but no no, she bites!
