Can a school tell its teachers, if u go away for a wedding, I cant come back to school for x amount of days... And then dock their pay?
If teachers essential, can't they come anyway?
Any ideas?
Wondering bc my school has a rule like that, and I have an upcoming close relative's simcha.

You might want to rethink your attitude about this, as these are rules meant to keep people safe and alive.

Some states consider teachers essential workers. If it's a private school they can have any rules they want regarding quarantine. If it's a public school they will follow local law in that regard.

Yes, legally, the school can tell you to quarantine for two weeks following a simcha. The NYC DOE has a similar policy for those who go out of state over the holidays. We are considered second-tier essential workers, which means we'll be in the second round of people getting vaccines, but we are not above quarantine rules.

If the simcha is a maskless non-SD event with superspreader potential, then I sure hope attendees won't be hanging out in crowded classrooms soon afterwards.

What a terrible idea.

I work in a hospital and have the same policy. If I go somewhere, I need to quarantine, or if my children are potentially exposed, and I need to quarantine, I either need to use my vacation days (which I need for YT) or I don't get paid.
Rules regarding quarantine stand and are there for the protection of the Klal. (After what I have seen you better believe that I believe that). If you don't work they presumably have to pay someone else to do the work, and you don't get paid. I know that it looks like our country will soon be socialist, but no workee-no payee.
