(you were one of my cutest bunkers btw. You think we counselors didnt have favorites?! We were 10th graders, we liked adorable little girls. LOL)
Do you remember Fradele F? She showed up as a third grader, had lost all her belongings.... she was literally our favorite kid. I really wanted to write an article about her, I have to find a way to edit details so it's not recognizable.

And yeah to the poster who pointed out that we were on a different clock as the rest of the world. It was really 8am wake up, And I def dont recall the cleanup/marks to be this dramatic. Meh.
What I do remember is mr rosenberg standing in the lunchroom with a tray full of those mini ices cups egging us on to outdo each other with the benching. Louder and louder we’d scream while he’d gloat.
Also somehow I was also Alwags his scapegoat, due to my popular, errr ancestry.
And I lost count of the times I wiggled my way into that huge freezer as my friends stood guard to pilfer a huge package of american cheese for pizza. Aaaah, the good times.

LOL what's your choshuva ancestry?
I remember what bunkhouse I was in and who all my counselors and od's were and what the names of the transport and classes were and who the heads were and all my songs and etc etc etc.

Camp got crazier and more inventive every year starting with Miriam Yitty Gruber breaking the trend with her cheer for קמץ. Until then, you just cheered your name and clapped. Making your name cheer with a TUNE was breaking major ground. Then the cheers got crazier and crazier, by the time I was in berekes, Yahalom broke new ground by bringing a strobe light. So from that year every single year the ante was upped, with the blown-glass signs in the lunchroom, strobe lights, insane choreography... my sister was 9th grade teacher of גג ועלי' the summer I was a working girl and you have no idea how many times I ran to Kohn's fabric store to buy her a bolt of something and put it on the Camp Bus.... I dont think my sister slept taht entire summer. The pressure to outdo and outshine the other class got worse every single year. It had to burst at some point. And I think it did, they started doing 3 9th grade classes instead of 2...

I tell mine too and they love it. Simchas Torah I sang a bunch of camp songs... especially bc I explained to my bochur how the גג ועלי'ה bunknight song came about (we used a satmar hakufah niggun, so I remember that niggun to this day!) But they dont really appreciate it the way girls would. oh well.

I dont have nerven to my mother's camp stories or camp songs either. that's the way the world turns.

Not quite the story, she was actually outside on porch with her baby in hand but ran back for some tznius reason like stockings I think. the tragic part is, what everyone was questioning was why didnt she at least hand over the baby for someone else... because that was Gods plan, we cant understand.
Her kever is right outside the Ohel of the Rebba, it's a double matzaive for her and baby

Not hiding. Walked off the viznitz camp next door. More than once. Once through the forest and once regular on the road. To town too. Abt 15-20 min walk.

Right. She was my counselor when I was in 8th grade. And I met her recently (she lives in Monroe now). We had such a nice time shmoozing.
