Omg
A standing ovulation. I’m seriously not breathing. I have tears rolling down my face. Especially if I try to imagine Chana Brandel repeating the story.
Too funny!! Rolling Laughter Rolling Laughter

He does have the most hillarious goofs. A shood I forgot them. Recently, he said something hilarious during a politicians visit. My sis says the whole high school was on the floor, especially the teachers from monsey. I think he mixed in a Yiddish word that he thought is English. A pity of forgot what he said.

When Mr. kohn would call upon mayors or some governors, or maybe just some important people (don’t remember) who would come visit kj, he would say. “It is our greatest honor to meet and to greet our high distinguished guest mr ....... klapts aleh.

Anyone else was there when Governor Cuomo came to visit (in rav tov).

We understand to give a hand to Governor Cuomo. Governor Cuomo.

Not the present governor, his dad.

We had to hide our smirks...was so funny some of them. The rest I played on. Even yusho I played on. Wasn't scared at all.

I wouldnt say I was scared ,but I was intimidated. They were untouchable and scary.

Oy! horrrible!

There were so few girls there on tisha b'av that they put them all into one bunk over tisha b'av.
My classmates were farchalisht to go see the performance in machne hachudosh 2 days after tisha b'av that instead of coming back to camp from being home for TB they first went to chudosh to watch the performance and took a van back together to Kerhonkson. Mr. Herzog was so mad that he made every girl walk ALONE from his scary office to the 'downtown' bunks in the pitch dark at 2 a.m. I came from the country, so I was already in the bunk when all this went down. yoish, the memories...

My 9th grad bunk was located on top of the little sheel the men had. Mr. Lichtenstien came for a meeting with Mr. herzog and were making such a ruckus in the bunk on top of their head, that Mr. Lichtenstien decided to split our class. We had to fight not to be split. And on the first day of 10th grade, back in school, I got punished. My father had to call him and threaten to involve the satmar rebbe (the beirach Moshe) if he didnt let me back into class.

My gosh. I'm so glad I don't have daughters. The **** my parents had to put up with!!!

Coumo (the previous one) came to school to visit and we sang that. Guess I wasn't in camp when he came, or was too young. In school, we were lined up in the big bus lot and we sang for coumos wife, and then we cheered those same words for coumo.
The cheer went:
With gratitude we salute to governor coumo
We understand to give a hand to governor coumo...

I'm so old that probably very few of you were there in my times.
I started camp in 7th grade, I was in מאה אחוזים and my class was עשר
In 8th grade I was in chudosh, in פרדס מבחר, my class was אתרוגים.
In 9th grade I was in the very ill-fated אבני מלואים in ברקת....
we had the salmonella outbreak....
"ברקת ברקת צוקוועטשטע פאטעיטאס"...
"אין הארלעם פראוועט מען האלאווין"....
10th grade I was a fourth grade counselor. My almost favorite year. I loved my girls. I made a ton of money in tips!
11th grade, I was a 7th grade teacher.... we were in יד אחת, and my class was זרת. my favorite year!!

If you were in camp any of these years and you remember anything of what I wrote, pipe up!

Btw I take credit for this thread, bc all of my comments on the Yiddish lyrics thread inspired all this Very Happy

U must be a bobba or almost an elter bobba

Mama bear. So the year that you were in 9th grade was the only year I was in camp. I was in 6th grade. I remember אבני מלוון גוט שבת. ברקת ריפט אויס א גיט שבת. But for the life of me, I can’t remember the name of my class. We were in the hospital bunk. 20 I think. But I was only there that one year and the details are all fuzzy.
And yes, I had a culture shock when I went to a different camp and everybody had to play during activities. Because in satmar, I had one classmate who was great in sports and she played it all. Every single time. And we just sat around and stared.
Then I remember we made epes a play in the Alta shpil hoiz and I didn’t have what to do. I was busy helping in the back. Or on the side.
Wow. This thread brings back memories

I'm not from Satmar, but why do you keep on referring to Teacher/class, as opposed to counselors/bunk?
